FAQ's
Q1. How long will the Energy Inspection take?
A. The majority of inspections will take no longer than 1 hour depending
on the size of the property.
Q2. Do I need to be present?
A. It is not essential to be present but it is beneficial as the Assessor
may need further information about the property. If it is not possible
for someone to be present, it is usual for a key to be left with the estate
agents marketing the property. This allows secure collection and delivery
of the key.
Q3. Do I need to leave any documentation for the Energy Assessor?
A. If any works have been carried out at the property for instance cavity
wall insulation, it is helpful for the paperwork to be available for the
Assessor to see during their inspection.
Q4. What happens during the Assessment?
A. The Assessor will begin by taking a photograph of the front and rear
of the property. Outside measurements are then taken before the Assessor
enters the property to complete the rest of the assessment.
The Assessor will need access to the gas and electricity meters and loft
space as part of the inspection.
Q5. How will I know who the Assessor is?
A. All Assessors will be wearing the green DC Energy Wise uniform and
carry identity cards with them. These cards will have been issued by their
accreditation scheme after thorough checks have been carried out.
It is possible to set up a “password” for extra security if
required.
Q6. What is included in the EPC?
A. EPC’s take a similar form to the certificates found on modern
fridges and washing machines. An example copy is shown on our Home page
and will also be on the information leaflet left by the Assessor.
